1. Plasma / blood serial sample cannulated rat study
  • Animals surgically implanted with JVC for sampling
  • Typically n = 3 / arm
  • Dosed with compound (alone or cassette, typically IV, PO, SC, or IP)
  • Serial blood samples collected at time points, for example:

IV: 5, 15, 30, 60 min, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 24 h
PO: 15, 30 min, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24 h

  • Analysis of samples if requested
  • Data analysis if requested
2. Plasma / blood terminal sample rat study
  • Animals dosed with compound
  • Terminal samples taken at appropriate time points
  • Relevant tissue samples taken eg brain and cerebrospinal fluid for blood-brain-barrier penetration; spinal cord, DRG, paw pad for pain

1 mg/kg IV and 5mg/kg PO (mean +/- sem, n=5 PO, n=3 IV)
