1. Plasma / blood serial sample cannulated rat study
- Animals surgically implanted with JVC for sampling
- Typically n = 3 / arm
- Dosed with compound (alone or cassette, typically IV, PO, SC, or IP)
- Serial blood samples collected at time points, for example:
IV: 5, 15, 30, 60 min, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 24 h
PO: 15, 30 min, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24 h
- Analysis of samples if requested
- Data analysis if requested
2. Plasma / blood terminal sample rat study
- Animals dosed with compound
- Terminal samples taken at appropriate time points
- Relevant tissue samples taken eg brain and cerebrospinal fluid for blood-brain-barrier penetration; spinal cord, DRG, paw pad for pain
